A superb, richly-inked, painterly impression, in black, gray, and metallic silver, on cream Japan paper; the full sheet with margins (1 1/4 to 1 3/4 inches), in excellent condition.

The term 'sculpturegraph' was coined by the artist to describe his 1984 series of dynamic relief prints produced by overprinting a series of abstract compositions, each created on a distinct matrix.

Born in Alabama, African American sculptor, printmaker, and model maker, George Rogers was active in Detroit. Rogers was the first Black clay modeler for the Ford Motor Company. His many sculpture installations are prominent in the Detroit area, and he was co-founder of 'Gallery 7' a collective and gallery space that represented Black abstract artists for over 20 years.
